Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Requirements for Hyde
- To hire a vehicle from Hyde, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle class is required and must be held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, drivers must present valid identification and proof of current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further requirements will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking Details and Payment
- Reservations for vehicle hire can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All pricing is in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed by both parties. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was when collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling fees will apply if the level is lower. Late returns may attract additional charges, so please notify us promptly if you foresee a delay. You will be liable for any parking tickets, traffic infractions, or other charges incurred during the rental period, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available, designed to lower your financial liability. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the booking type and notice period. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities or purposes is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in other dangerous behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to unauthorized individuals is not allowed. Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or operating outside the agreed geographical boundaries without permission is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Hyde Car Hire disclaims responsibility for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profit, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to cases of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or to instances of fraud.
Governing Legislation
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
Updates to Terms
Hyde reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
